The Genius Pie Trick That Will Please Everyone at the Thanksgiving Table
The battle for the best Thanksgiving pie can turn into an intense debate, especially around my house. We're a family that loves pie, and we all have a favorite. Our top three include pumpkin, pecan and sweet potato pies and we look forward to each this time of year, but I don't always have time to make all three. There’s pure joy in having a slice of your favorite pie at Thanksgiving, like a little gift that features all the best flavors of the season.
But when I was scrolling social media the other day I realized that perhaps there was an easy way to have it all this Thanksgiving. A post from food blogger, cookbook author and TV host Jocelyn Delk Adams (aka @grandbabycakes) popped up. In the video, she showed how to make her Sheet Pan Pie (3 Flavors in One!), which is exactly as genius as it sounds.
"Whether you love Sweet Potato Pie or Pecan or Pumpkin, we can finally end the drama with my sheet pan pie!" she wrote in the caption of her Instagram video. This amazing sheet pan pie combines all three of those pies in one!
She lists the ingredients for each pie filling in the video caption so you can grab them there (or you can find the recipe on her site). The fillings aren't too complicated and neither is the process to make this incredible pie.
She mixes the individual fillings and then rolls out the dough onto a baking sheet. Then, she puts the sweet potato pie filling on one-third of the pie dough, at one end of the baking sheet, and the pumpkin pie filling goes on the opposite end, leaving a third of the pie dough uncovered in the center. She fills that with the pecan pie filling.
She bakes the pie and when it's done you have three pies in one! This is a dream come true! "This is so smart! Perfect!" someone commented on the post. It's really a great way to get the pies you want without a lot of extra work.
"This is the smartest thing I’ve ever seen! And it’s square. What in the world," someone else said. It is a fun way to mix up things for the holiday.
"Love that I can have all three with this!" someone else chimed in. It's going to be a game-changer, for sure!
