Get fuller-looking lips in less than a minute with this lipstick trick
If you’ve noticed that your lips aren’t as luscious as they were a few years ago, you’re not imagining things. Research shows that lips become thinner as we age.
The good news is that there’s an easy fix for creating the appearance of fuller, more youthful-looking lips. And Kylie Mar, host and producer for Yahoo Entertainment’s “Last Night Now,” has it. She’s sharing her go-to lip-plumping trick with Yahoo Lifestyle — and all you need is lipstick and a lip liner.
“I recently learned that you can use lip liner to create a fuller effect without using a needle,” says Kylie.
She recommends choosing a lip liner that is a slightly darker shade than your favorite lipstick to line your lips.
“Then you want to take the liner and you work from the outside in, making sure that you follow the natural lip line,” she says.
At the center of your upper lip, draw a thicker line that goes a little bit above the margin of your upper lip. Do the same at the center of your lower lip. Next, making a sideways V shape, start to fill in the outer corners of your lips with the liner. “Then take the lipstick and shade it all over, blending it together and creating that 3D effect.”
To keep lips looking smooth and healthy, keep them moisturized daily and use a lip balm with SPF 15 or higher to help block ultraviolet rays, which can cause lip-plumping collagen to break down. It also wise to gently exfoliate your lips once in a while — and aesthetician and Korean beauty expert Alicia Yoon has a quick, DIY natural lip scrub that’s easy to whip up at home.
