Pipette's minimal balm is formulated without additives which could be troubling to some. What it does have? A short-but-mighty list of ingredients that will keep your little one's skin soft and your mind at ease. "I like that it's safe for my baby," our new-mom testers agreed. Here's what else impressed them and us.

WHAT WE LIKE

  • PACKED WITH MOISTURIZERS Skin hydrators make up the first half of the plant-based balm's ingredient list, starting with the brand's signature emollient squalane, which mimics a natural oil found in human skin. Using a Corneometer to measure hydration, we found that testers' skin remained moisturized six hours after hydration.

  • FREE OF CONCERNING INGREDIENTS According to testers, knowing that this is formulated without fragrance —which can irritate sensitive skin — parabens or other conventional preservatives gave them extra peace of mind.

  • GREAT TEXTURE Oils and emollients (including moisturizing all-star jojoba) in a plant-wax base give this a softer, faster-absorbing consistency than a typical balm, which particularly pleased consumer testers. "It spread easily and absorbed into the skin quickly," commented one mom. "I liked that it didn't feel sticky or slimy or leave a film on my daughter's skin or mine," said another, who also found a benefit for herself."My hands have been really dry lately, and this helped!"
