Giant Great Dane Tries To Make Friends With a Frog Swimming in the Family’s Pool

Sometimes animals have the most unlikely friendships, and that's definitely true about a Great Dane named Parker and a frog named Pickles. @LoveMargot.co shared a video at the beginning of December 2023 of Parker finding a frog in the family's pool, and the whole thing is just too cute!

Parker's mom recorded Parker as he makes his discovery of the frog swimming around in the pool. Parker is very curious and tries to figure out what the strange looking green thing is. He watches it closely and follows it around the sides of the pool. Tail wagging, he gently paws at the frog. The frog doesn't seem bothered by Parker at all, and when the two finally meet, it's the best!

@LoveMargot.co goes on to say in the caption that this is Episode 1 of how the friendship happened. Parker and Pickles spent the summer together, and Parker's mom promises a second episode is coming. I can't wait to see what kind of shenanigans they got into together!

The video has been viewed more than 4 million times and has over a thousand comments. People loved this unusual friendship between a chill little frog and very curious huge Great Dane. @Darian pointed out, "The lips" and I noticed Parker's lips too when he was trying to get close to Pickles. @Lindley Fortner pointed out, "Madam, your couch horse is confused by the trough swimmer LOL!!" @Michael Mahoney quoted Hugo the Abominable Snowman (from Looney Tunes), "“I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him and I will call him George". @Mira221 made me laugh with, "I spent the whole time thinking if that frog jumps up, I bet that big baby will run like hell LOL! He was so cute though!"

Do Great Danes Make Good Family Pets?

Is a Great Dane the right dog for your family? Although they are extremely big dogs (they grow to be about 3 feet high and 175 pounds), they are known to be gentle, affectionate, loyal, and good with other pets and small children. They're called "gentle giants" by many and enjoy being active. Walks, hikes, and play help them burn off energy. They're low maintenance to care for and groom, and they tend to eat small meals throughout the day.

As with every breed, there are some cons to consider. These dogs can be very hyperactive and like a lot of attention. They are known to be predisposed to some significant health problems that could be costly to deal with. And like many dog breeds, they sometimes can become aggressive, possessive, or overly protective which is why socialization and training are necessary.

Before purchasing any family pet, make sure to do your research about the pros and cons of the breed to make sure that it's a dog that your family has the time, effort, patience, and money to handle that particular kind of pup.
