‘Girl in Line’: Outside H&M Times Square for the Launch of Kenzo x H&M

“Girl in Line” is a new series focusing on the people — one particular girl, rather — waiting in line at a collaboration launch, pop-up shop or store opening. Early this morning, WWD headed to H&M’s Times Square location for the launch of the brand’s much-talked about collaboration with Kenzo. About 40 people got in line ahead of the store’s special 8 a.m. opening with hopes of getting their hands on some of the pieces from Kenzo’s vibrant, printed, tier-heavy collection. One girl in particular, Zoe Forbes, shuffled into the back of the line before heading to work. Here’s what she had to say about her experience.

Name: Zoe Forbes. “Like the magazine.”

Age: 26.

Wait time: About 30 minutes.

Did you travel far?

“I work on 42nd Street so I just came here before work.”

What do you think of the collection?

“I liked some of the pieces. Some of them are a bit less wearable. Yeah, I like it.”

What pieces do you want to buy?

“I’m mainly looking for accessories, like a bag, maybe. Nothing like one of the big jackets or anything. Maybe something small or maybe a present for someone.”

You’re not buying for yourself?

“Maybe a present as well.”
