Glastonbury revellers will be finding themselves doing the locomotion next June after Kylie Minogue confirmed that she will fill the festival's "Legend slot" on Sunday afternoon.

Minogue broke the news through her Twitter account. "I’m so thrilled to announce that I’ll be playing the ‘Legend slot’ on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019," she wrote.

"It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can’t wait to see you all there to share this special show."

Minogue was due to headline the festival's Pyramid Stage in 2005, but had to cancel after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Basement Jaxx covered her slot, and Coldplay, who were also headlining, paid tribute to Minogue by covering her 2000 hit Can’t Get You Out of My Head.

By taking the heritage slot, Minogue will follow in the footsteps of Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Barry Gibb. Taking place at 4pm on the festival's final day, the slot usually sees the Pyramid Stage's largest crowds as festival-goers enjoy a string of classic pop hits.

Emily Eavis, the festival's organiser, said she was “delighted” with the booking, adding: “We cannot wait.”
