GMA's Ginger Zee Explains Her Upcoming Absence from the Show
Good Morning America's chief meteorologist Ginger Zee let fans of the show know she's taking a short break.
On Aug. 15, Zee shared an announcement on social media, noting that she's alerting viewers of her planned vacation to avoid the same experience she had during her last one.
The 42-year-old tweeted, "Really looking forward to some time away next week. As a heads-up, last time I took a few days off everyone thought I died or left abc etc… I am just going to take vacation and time off social. Thank goodness."

Fans were more than understanding, sharing their support towards Zee.
"Enjoy your time off. Get in some good relaxation," someone replied. A fan advised, "Digitally disconnecting, especially from social, is key to REAL time off! Enjoy!" Another fan wished, "Have a great vacation!!!" as a different reply noted how necessary it is for Zee to take some time off: "Get some much needed rest, you deserve it ??."
Before the managing editor of ABC News' climate unit can relax on her vacation, however, she's having a busy week at work. On Aug. 17, she reported on the city of Yellowknife—which is the capital of Canada's northwest territories—evacuating its entire population of 20,000 by Friday, Aug. 18 due to wildfires.
In an Instagram post featuring a clip from the show, she wrote, "Unprecedented acreage burned in Canadian wildfires this season - burning more than the size of the state of New York if you combine all the fire acreage burned!"
