Going on a spring-break trip this year? The Points Guy wants you to consider Puerto Rico
If you’re a millennial mulling over your credit card options or a seasoned traveler looking at how to spend your rewarded travel points wisely, you’ve probably heard of the Points Guy, Brian Kelly. The blogger, voyager, and careful spender stopped by “The Morning Breath” on Thursday to lay down some travel tips for those who are planning to abandon the chilling temps soon.
Planning for a memorable spring break? Kelly offers an idea you might’ve dismissed after Hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico, but heading down to San Juan is not just a way to have a good time in beachy, balmy weather; it’s also a way to help the people of Puerto Rico and play a part in getting their economy back on track.
Kelly himself, along with the Points Guy team, traveled south recently to help Puerto Rico, and the blogger insists that San Juan is ready to welcome vacationing tourists. “I was shocked. San Juan is ready for business,” he says.
“It was fun and the best way to help Puerto Rico — don’t feel guilty about it, go to Puerto Rico,” shares the points guru. “You can totally have a fun spring break weekend,” he says, despite some hotels “taking the opportunity to remodel.”
For those on the fence about spending their time off in a seemingly desolate environment, Kelly adds, “You’re not going to go there and think it’s a war zone and feel bad for having fun.”
