'Golden Bachelor’ Runner-Up Claims Gerry Lied to Her With Off-Camera Promises
Gerry Turner and Leslie Fhima
Hot on the heels of a former girlfriend exposing Gerry Turner's previous relationship, his runner-up has slammed The Golden Bachelor for making promises to her that he didn’t keep.
On Monday’s Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Leslie Fhima told hosts Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt that when she spent off-camera time with him in their fantasy suite in Costa Rica: "He made plans with me for [the] future. He said kind of, like, 'Save the date, this is what we’re going to do. I can’t wait for us. [In] two more days, we’ll be done with this [and] be together, start our life.' Did he say, 'Will you marry me?' in there, no, but he all but said that. I would’ve been happy with just, 'I love you,' but he took it to a different level."
Gerry’s sincere, no-nonsense Midwestern charm thrilled fans of the hit ABC reality show, the first of the long-running franchise to feature a senior star.
But as Parade previously reported, a shocking Holllywood Reporter article revealed the claims of a former girlfriend, “Carolyn,” who said Gerry, now 72, romanced her just one month after his wife Toni’s sudden death.
They allegedly lived together for more than a year and then split up after Gerry expressed his displeasure over her 10-pound weight gain before his high school reunion.
The exposé came out just a day before viewers saw Gerry propose to Theresa Nist, 70, on The Golden Bachelor finale.

Now his jilted second place contestant, Leslie, 64, has caused more tumult in Bachelor Nation by labeling Gerry a liar!
Beautiful twice-divorced dancer and fitness instructor Leslie from Minneapolis became an almost immediate front-runner when she stepped out of the limo on The Golden Bachelor premiere, tossed her old lady disguise and showed off her toned body.
Weeks later, when the competition was down to the final two ladies—Leslie and Theresa each traveled to Costa Rica for Fantasy Suite date nights with Gerry.
The sexy former ice skater's Fantasy Suite took place before Theresa’s private time with him. She said she was "100% sure" that she was the one after their night together.
"We woke up the next morning and he left [and] turned around three times and blew me kisses. He didn’t want to leave. That’s why I wasn’t worried that he was going on a date [with Theresa]. I just knew that he had to get through the motions of it… He didn’t say, ‘I have such a hard decision to make.’ Nothing like that."
On the podcast, Leslie says her televised reunion with Gerry didn't give her a ton of closure.
"I felt like I closed it with myself. What can [the lead] say? They had to make a choice. It’s his journey, his choice. But he could have chosen not to say those things to me. That’s all. He said he wasn’t ready [or] his heart wasn’t ready, or something like that. I kind of was glazing over at that point."
Podcast host Joe Amabile likened Gerry's decision to how one would handle a business transaction, Leslie agreed, saying, "I feel like he switched… I should have said, 'I thought you were a man of integrity instead of [saying] you are a man of integrity.' Because at the end of the day, he didn’t really have the integrity that I thought he had. I mean, listen, I know what I signed up for…I didn’t expect it to be so hard."
As for Gerry and Theresa, they are planning The Golden Wedding, which will air Jan. 4 on ABC.
