With The Golden Bachelor Season 1 in the books, fans understandably want to know if there will be a Season 2 of the hit ABC reality show.

Gerry Turner, 72, became a Bachelor Nation's fan favorite, winning high ratings and capturing the cultural zeitgeist on his successful quest for love. (He ultimately proposed to Theresa Nist.)

After Gerry's success as the first Golden Bachelor, the biggest question that remains is whether the next senior series will feature a male or female star.

As Parade previously reported, there is a groundswell of support for letting older ladies have a chance in a Golden Bachelorette season.

Will there be a Golden Bachelor Season 2?

It seems like a no-brainer that ABC will renew the smash hit series for a second season but no announcement has been at this point.

During the last two episodes of Season 1, ABC aired promotions encouraging seniors to apply to be on future versions of the franchise.

Just minutes into Gerry’s Fantasy Suites episode, host Jesse Palmer announced, “Ready to spend your golden years with someone special? Apply to be on the next season of The Golden Bachelor. Go to ABC.com/casting now.” But he provided no details on whether the next star would be a bachelor or bachelorette.

Fans chimed in on Reddit, with one writing, "OH S---- CASTING FOR THE NEXT GOLDEN BACHELOR."

Another responded, "I GASPED."

But someone else wrote in the thread, "I hope we get golden bachelorette next."

What could change The Golden Bachelor Season 2?

After such a successful Season 1, it's hard to imagine that ABC will change much at all for the second season. But that hasn't stopped viewers from making suggestions which include less elaborate dates and more maturity.

One Reddit user suggested to producers, "Don’t use the same Bachelor franchise ‘formula.’ This age group deserves its own model" to "go a little deeper into the important things."

The critic had strong ideas, writing, "Skip the helicopter and yacht rides, and instead have contestants shop and cook together, decide what to watch on TV, hang blinds, and debate current events. Spice it up and make it real!"

Many fans were thrilled when Gerry finally asked Theresa about a real world issue —her thriving career—during the Fantasy Suites episode. They dubbed her "Girl Boss" because she went from a homemaker to a financial professional after first being a day trader.

Who will host The Golden Bachelor Season 2?

Reliable host Jesse has strongly supported Gerry through such moments as his episode 6 rose ceremony breakdown, where the star said, “I’m dying inside!” and dropped the F bomb.

We can’t imagine Jesse not being on board for Season 2!

When will The Golden Bachelor Season 2 air?

The Bachelor franchise is big on tradition, and Gerry has made the late September post-Thanksgiving period feel cozy and right. We’re guessing Golden time could start next September, which is also healthy aging month!

However, a Reddit fan opined that another Golden will follow the regular The Bachelor season beginning on Jan. 22 starring Joey Graziadei: "It will run next summer, after Joey's season ends."

Will there be a Golden Bachelorette instead?

Fans and Gerry’s castoff contestants such as Faith Martin, 61, have clamored for a female version. Although Golden Bachelor producer Jason Ehrlich has speculated about a senior woman spinoff, there is no official news on that yet.

Gerry's runner-up, Leslie Fhima would make an excellent Bachelorette.

Heartbroken Faith would be another obvious choice, or producers could opt for another candidate from Gerry's group, such as stunning Joan Vassos, 60, or funny Ellen Goltzer, 71.
