Who is Gerry’s wife on The Golden Bachelor?
During the “Men Tell All” special, a video was aired to promote the then-upcoming Golden Bachelor.
Indiana native Gerry, now 72, recalled in the clip, “I married my high school sweetheart, Toni, in 1972. We had 43 wonderful years together. We had two daughters and I now have two wonderful granddaughters. We had a real typical but beautiful life, full of love, full of activity, and as years went on, I retired.”
How did Gerry’s wife die?
He told the cameras, “We had a plan and we had an idea of what our dream house was going to be. So when Toni retired the end of May in 2017, we bought that dream house, closed on it on June 6. From June 6th on, it didn’t go according to plan at all. She became ill and her situation got worse over a couple of weeks.”
Gerry continued, tearing up, “And so we went to the emergency room and she had a bacterial infection that infected her kidneys and infected her liver. So I took my wife to the emergency room on July 7th. She passed away on July 15th.”
The story moved the studio audience. Cameras even showed The Bachelorette contestant Brayden Bowers tearing up at Gerry’s story at the "Men Tell All."

When Jesse asked Gerry if he can find a love like he had with his late wife Toni, he responded,"What I look for at the age of 70 is different than what I looked for when I was in high school and in college. I don't think it would be right to do it that way."
