Goldie Hawn's Son Oliver Hudson Sheds Light on Childhood 'Trauma' Comments

Oliver Hudson is clarifying recent statements he made about his "trauma" from childhood and the challenges he faced from having a mom who is also a Hollywood mega-star, Goldie Hawn.

At the risk of "inflaming" the situation even more, the 47-year-old actor attempted to clear the air during the Monday, April 1, episode of his Sibling Revelry podcast that he co-hosts with his sister, Kate Hudson.

"I’m even afraid to talk about it to inflame this even more because everything is taken so far out of context," he shared before going on to explain how the comments he made about completing a course to unravel his estranged relationship with his dad, Bill Hudson, actually focused on his mom, saying that "interestingly enough," it was Goldie, 78, whom he had "almost the most trauma about."

"If you listen to the whole thing, it’s more about my child feelings in that moment rather than me and how I feel about Mom as a parent.”

The Nashville alum continued, squashing any rumored resentment that he had against his mother.

"I don’t know who I would be without my mother," he gushed. “I can’t even fathom it. The love that I have for her and the respect and the reverence that I have for her is beyond anything. So, it was just completely taken out of context.”

His younger sister then pointed out that his choice of words probably wasn't the best and that it's easy for things to be "taken out of context" when using "such clickbait words."

"I can't leave my brother alone for a second," Kate, 44, joked.

"There was no trauma coming from my mother, the way she raised me, in any way whatsoever. You’re speaking from a 5-, 6-year-old perspective — that’s what I was doing. Without her, again, I’d be nothing," he added.

Though Goldie's ex-husband has been out of the picture, her longtime partner, Kurt Russell, happily served as Oliver and Kate's primary father figure. Along with the podcast duo, the Escape From New York actor, 73, shares a biological child–son Wyatt Russell–with the Private Benjamin star.
