Find out how to play the sequel to 2018's 'The Great Ghoul Duel.'

Google is getting into the Halloween spirit with a brand new holiday Google Doodle.

The Doodle will be available in the US on Oct. 30 through Halloween on Oct. 31.

The multiplayer interactive Doodle draws inspiration from the 2018 Halloween game: The Great Ghoul Duel, which was the "first-ever multiplayer interactive game Doodle, powered by Google Cloud," per the press release sent to Parade.

The 2022 Halloween Google Doodle sequel is getting a monster makeover with four new characters, two new maps, and 12 special achievement hats.

It's also going to have a spooky theme with added new abilities like "an invincibility jack-o-lantern."

"Players around the world can join forces on one of two teams of four players and compete to see who can collect the most wandering spirit flames before the moon is gone," the press release states.

A player can either host a game, inviting up to seven friends to play via a custom link, or challenge randomized players around the world.

The rules of the game are as follows:

  • Exploring one of several spooky maps, players must collect as many wandering spirit flames as they can in two minutes and return them to their home base.

  • After time's up, the team that has collected the most spirit flames wins. But beware! - opponents can intercept spirits from one another as they bring them back to home base.

  • Ghosts who collect the most spirit flames will also unlock special powers along the way—such as speed boosts, night vision, and much more!

For those interested in the tech aspect, the game was built to run on the Google Cloud platform, "utilizing Open Match, a highly-scalable, open source matchmaking framework cofounded by Google Cloud and Unity."
