Google Pixel 7 Rumors Provide First Details of Hardware and Specs

The Pixel 6 just launched in October 2021, but we’re already seeing a few interesting Pixel 7 rumors that discuss Google’s next generation of Tensor chipsets. Codenames for this year’s installments are “Cheetah” and “Panther” – and data buried the Android 13 developer preview is giving us a sneak peek at the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
The discovery was made by 9to5Google and a “trusted source and friend of the site,” as the team identified not just the above codenames for the Pixel 7 series, but also a few possible hardware specifications. According to verbiage found in the code, the smartphones will be built around a brand-new Samsung modem that uses model number “g5300b.”
On its own, it doesn’t seem like much, but the Pixel 6 used a modem dubbed “g5123b” and made use of the Exynos Modem 5123. If the pattern follows for Pixel 7, we can expect to see it using the Exynos Modem 5300 – which is allegedly a new modem that’s yet to be revealed.
There’s also a reference to a “Ravenclaw” model, although it’s a bit unclear what Google has in store for this rumored third product. It’s possible that Google will outfit “Ravenclaw” with a Pixel 6 Pro chassis and the new second-gen Tensor chips, but it’s difficult to say with certainty what Google has up its sleeve.
At the very least, it sounds like a new processor will be arriving later this year with the Google Pixel 7, although we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Google to learn more. The company is yet to reply to the current batch of leaks, and it’s entirely possible we’ll get no response until it’s ready for a full Pixel 7 reveal.
