Goshen College to offer evening Spanish classes for adults
Jul. 18—GOSHEN — In August, Goshen College will resume offering evening Spanish classes for adults, with a revised curriculum for different proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced conversational, through the college's adult and graduate programs.
Spanish classes will take place in person on campus from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes begin August 20, and end December 19. The cost is $300 for the semester.
"The adult Spanish program, which launched in January 2022, is modeled on the college's highly successful adult English language courses, in which hundreds of working adults have gained proficiency through small, highly interactive classes," according to a news release.
After offering Spanish classes for two full semesters, the college placed the program on pause in the fall of 2023, in part to revise the program's curriculum.
An educational consultant conducted a survey on student needs and prepared a curriculum. Classes this fall will feature a refreshed team of instructors and original language-learning materials.
The English and Spanish classes will take place at the same time.Teachers once again will coordinate breaks and other activities so that students from both English and Spanish classes will be able to advance their language skills in real-life and natural settings as they build relationships with one another.
Like the English classes, the evening Spanish classes are offered as continuing education, not for college credit.
