Got a hankering for cinnamon rolls? Ventura County Fair launches Wednesday
The racing pigs are ready, so are the carnival rides and the cinnamon rolls.
The Ventura County Fair’s 12-day run starts at noon Wednesday. The event celebrates the fair’s 150th anniversary. Opening day attractions include rappers Vanilla Ice and Tone Loc, both part of the I Love the '90s concert set for 7 p.m. in the grandstand. Also in the show are The Sugarhill Gang and C+C Music Factory, featuring Freedom Williams.
Other highlights include a drone show at 9 p.m. and a watermelon eating contest at 2 p.m. at the Seabreeze stage. The day’s full schedule can be found at https://venturacountyfair.org/event/ventura-county-fair-day-1/.
Tickets, normally $20 for most adults, are $3 if purchased before 3 p.m. on opening day. They can be bought online or at the fairgrounds where people are encouraged to purchase at the kiosks set up in the parking lot. The grounds close at midnight.
Parking at the fairgrounds costs $20. The lot fills up quickly. People can also park offsite and use free shuttle service from the following locations.
