Step aside, summery rose pink succulents—a new spooktacular trend in houseplants has arrived, and it's just in time for Halloween. We're calling it now: Gothic black succulents will be all the rage this spooky season, and you'll want to stock up on them before the cold weather approaches.

If you're sick of the cookie-cutter Halloween decorations that appear all over stores like Target and HomeGoods (or just don't want to shell out the money for the once-a-year decor), then you need these eerie black plants in your life. Not only do they make great All Hallows Eve decor, but they'll add a moody vibe to your home long after October 31st.

These kinds of gothic black succulents, known as echeveria and sinocrassula yunnanensis, aren't exactly all black—they're actually either a brownish purple or green, but since their colors are so dark they appear to be black. The longer they're kept in the sun, the darker their leaves will turn.

"Another beautiful plant..." one satisfied Etsy reviewer wrote. "Still a bit green, but getting darker as it gets used to the new environment."

These succulents enjoy full to partial sun in warmer climates, and should be watered thoroughly when the soil is dry to the touch. They enjoy porous soil, and should be drained completely after they are watered to avoid root and fungal diseases.
