Gourmet KitKat bars are here, but they don't come cheap
KitKat is going gourmet.
Forget casually picking up a candy bar in the grocery store checkout line — Nestlé’s latest creation involves custom-order chocolate with over 1,500 different flavor combinations.
KitKat Chocolatory’s eight-finger “Create Your Break” option allows you to choose from four different chocolate varieties — milk, dark, white and ruby — and add custom ingredients such as shortbread pieces, salted caramel chunks, honeycomb and rose petals.
Launching in the U.K., Nestlé will also offer six special-edition flavors including “Zingtastic Gin and Tonic” and “Springtime in Japan.” Eight other “Best of British”-inspired flavors will be sold exclusively at John Lewis stores.
Chocolate this extravagant needs a custom wrapper to match. Customers will be able to customize the packaging both in-store and online with a personalized message or name.
United Kingdom-based shoppers can indulge in the chocolatey treats at thirty John Lewis stores around the country, York’s Chocolate Story location and online via the KitKat Chocolatory webshop.
While this particular launch only relates to the U.K., American shoppers have reason to hold out hope. A Nestlé representative assures Yahoo Lifestyle that “we are fully aware that there are lots of possibilities for the future of KitKat Chocolatory and for possible future expansion.”
Act fast: these treats will only be available from September 26 until Christmas Eve. But something this delicious will cost you — a custom KitKat retails for £14 ($17).
