Netflix practically invented the concept of streaming content bingeing, giving fans the opportunity to watch whole seasons of their favorite shows like The Crown and Bridgerton as fast as humanly possible. Which makes the news that the streaming giant has decided to surprise fans by debuting the first four episodes of the seventh and final season of the hit comedy Grace and Frankie even more of a shock.

Stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin announced the news today in a characteristically hilarious video (watch the whole announcement above) along with a reassurance the the rest of the 16-episode season will premiere as scheduled in 2022.

"The first four episodes of season seven are out now!" Tomlin enthuses in the announcement, to which Fonda adds, "But don't worry, there's plenty more to come. We just wanted to give you something special until we finish the rest of the season."

Back in 2019, it was announced that the show had been picked up for one last season, bringing Grace and Frankie's total episode count to 94 and also making the show Netflix's longest-running original series to date. But since the show's sixth season premiere back in January 2020 and production was forced to shut down that March in the wake of the pandemic, there's been little word about exactly when we could expect more Grace and Frankie on our screens. Though that quandary hasn't entirely been solved yet (Netflix has yet to confirm a date for when the rest of the final season will launch), this little unexpected treat will at least help fans who have been patiently waiting for more of their favorite ladies.
