Grammy-Winning Singer Tori Kelly Reportedly Hospitalized
Tori Kelly, who rose to fame in the music industry after appearing on American Idol, has reportedly been hospitalized.
TMZ reported that the Grammy winner was rushed to the hospital on July 23 from a dinner with friends in Los Angeles, California. It's said that she is receiving treatment for blood clots around her vital organs, with a source even telling the outlet that the situation is "very serious."
Per the outlet, during the dinner, the singer-songwriter's heart started beating very fast, leading her to pass out, with sources saying that she was "out for a while."
Kelly was then allegedly taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital after her friends carried her outside of the restaurant and got her a car, transporting her there instead of calling an ambulance.
The "Never Alone" singer is getting treatment in the ICU, where doctors reportedly found blood clots in her legs and lungs. TMZ reported that Kelly has been in and out of consciousness.
Kelly was a contestant on the ninth season of American Idol, but she wasn't able to make it into the top 24 singers. After this venture, Kelly self-produced and released her debut EP, called Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly, which came out in 2012.
After signing with Capitol Records the next year, Kelly released another EP called Foreword, followed by her debut full album, Unbreakable Smile, in 2015. The singer-songwriter's star quickly began to rise, with Kelly earning her first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2016.
She went on to win two Grammys a few years later for her second studio album, 2018's Hiding Place. Since then, Kelly has continued to make music, releasing two more full albums and her first Christmas album, A Tori Kelly Christmas, in 2020.
In March 2023, she signed with a new record label, Epic Records, releasing a new single called "missin' u." The song is the lead single on Kelly's upcoming EP called tori, which was scheduled to be released on July 28, 2023.
Regarding the singer's personal life, Kelly is fairly private, but she has been married to professional basketball player André Murillo since 2018.
Parade has reached out to Kelly's team for comment, but has not heard back.
