Get a great view of the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks from these spots in NJ

For the first time in more than a decade, the annual Macy's Fourth of July fireworks display will take place over the Hudson River. This means that if you've been waiting to get a good view of the show right here in the Garden State, now is your chance.

"New Jersey is proud to celebrate Independence Day this year with a dazzling display of fireworks planned in collaboration with our neighbors across the Hudson," Gov. Phil Murphy said in a press release about the event.

The barges where the fireworks will be launched from will be located between Manhattan's West 14th and West 34th streets, giving those in areas of Hoboken, Weehawken and Jersey City some of North Jerseys best views of the show.

Because most of Hoboken is located right across from where the barges launching the fireworks will be set up, there are several great viewing points here along the Hudson River.

Hoboken has several piers, which are guaranteed to give viewers a front row seat to the show. They include:

  • 14th Street Pier (1401 Frank Sinatra Drive), which is serviced by the NYC Ferry

  • Pier 13 (1301 Frank Sinatra Drive), which is also home to a beer garden with food trucks and entertainment

  • Pier A (100 Frank Sinatra Drive), which offers an extensive green space and a pergola overlooking the Hudson River.

There are also several parks, all of which feature waterfront walkways and green spaces along the Hudson River. They include:

  • Maxwell Place Park (11 Frank Sinatra Drive)

  • Frank Sinatra Park (Frank Sinatra Drive between 4th and 5th streets)

  • Pier C Park (340 Frank Sinatra Drive)

Where to watch the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks in Weehawken

Most of Weehawken is also located along the Hudson River, meaning there are also several great spots here to view the show.

They include:

  • Weehawken Waterfront Park and Recreation Center (1 Port Imperial Blvd.), a public park with playgrounds and playing fields situated along the Hudson River.

  • Weehawken Pier (1600 Harbor Blvd.) which features five connected piers with seating and lighting stretching 450 feet into the Hudson River.

There are also the two NYC Ferry terminals in Weehawken, which both offer an expansive view of the Hudson River:

  • Lincoln Harbor Ferry Terminal (near 1000 Harbor Blvd.)

  • Port Imperial/Weehawken Ferry Terminal (4800 Avenue at Port Imperial).

While Jersey City is not located right where the barges will be, there are still plenty of locations along the Hudson River there that will offer a close view.

  • Newport Green Park (River Drive and Park Lane South) spans four acres, featuring a splash park, playground and carousel, as well as an urban beach area where you can take in views of the fireworks.

  • J Owen Grundy Park (along Hudson Street, next to the Exchange Place Path Station), Paulus Hook Pier (30 Hudson Street) and Morris Canal Park (158 Washington Street).

  • Liberty State Park (1 Audrey Zapp Drive), which has approximately 300 acres developed for public recreation and a two-mile promenade, Liberty Walk, along the Hudson River.
