Greenville’s iconic Catfish Extravaganza brings in crowds despite the heatwave
GREENVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – The Greenville Lions Club hosted their iconic ‘Catfish Extravaganza’ on Friday at the Greenville Lions Park under warm weather conditions, but that didn’t stop people from showing up.
Perhaps the biggest event all year in Greenville, residents and outsiders alike gather together to watch two historic races, the Great Greenville Tadpole Trot and the Great Greenville Catfish Races. Yes, we’re talking about human and fish races!
Packers host eight Wisconsin high school teams for 7-on-7 Tournament, Lineman Challenge
The tadpole race, which is a one-fourth-mile fun run with prizes, preceded the Great Greenville Catfish Races, which started at 5:00 p.m. While the fishes race to see who this year’s champion is, eventgoers enjoyed food from the Greenville Lioness Food Stand and the Great Catfish Fry.
Music by the HAS band and Big Band Orchestra filled the park during the races as well, creating a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.

Speaking of family-friendly, there were several kids’ games and activities to choose from. Whether it was rock climbing, slides, bungee bouncing, or face painting, there was a plethora of options.
The nighttime concert was ‘Ask Your Mother,’ which had the crowd rocking throughout the evening. Greenville’s biggest event was capped off by a fireworks festival.
