'Grey's Anatomy's Justin Chambers Offers Rare Insight Into Life With 4 Daughters

Justin Chambers

Grey's Anatomy actor Justin Chambers might've been a staple on people's television every week for 15 years as he played the character Dr. Alex Karev, but during that time, he managed to keep his personal life quite private, including his five children—four daughters and a son—with wife Keisha Chambers.

Now, as his oldest daughter approaches her 30th birthday, the actor is opening up about his role as father. Chambers specifically addressed raising his daughters in a new interview with People as he attended the 25th Annual Women's Image Awards in Beverly Hills, California, saying, "I've got four daughters. They're great. They're very independent, levelheaded, kind. I'm very blessed, very grateful."

"One's going to hit 30 soon. That's a big milestone," he went on, referring to daughter Isabella, before describing her character. "I'm proud of her. She's very socially conscious and she's just a very loving girl who is very involved with world issues and just kind."

Along with Isabella, Chambers and his wife share 26-year-old twins Maya and Kaila, Eva, 24, and son Jackson, 22.

Chambers continued to praise his kids, saying, "They're more academic. And sometimes I'm like, 'Wow.' I'm really impressed with how intelligent and interested they are in things. But most importantly, I'm just happy that they're kind."

The actor married his wife Keisha, who was a model agency booker when they met, in 1993, and they started their family the next year with the birth of Isabella in December.

As for work, Chambers decided to leave Grey's Anatomy in 2020, during the show's 16th season, saying of the decision, "There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years."

He noted that he wanted to "diversify [his] acting roles and career choices," further stating that "as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time." Since the end of the show, Chambers starred in the show The Offer, portraying esteemed actor Marlon Brando.
