GSTQ Opens Pop-up in Rockefeller Center for Holiday Season

GSTQ, the apparel brand founded by entrepreneur Dany Garcia, has opened a pop-up at New York’s Rockefeller Center.

The 2,000-square-foot shop at 10 West 51st Street, follows two previous pop-ups that the brand opened in the spring in New York’s SoHo and Atlanta. The Rockefeller Center shop will offer the brand’s full fall and holiday collections of women’s and menswear and remain open through the end of January.

Katie Mayne, chief executive officer of GSTQ, said the pop-up on Mercer Street in New York in March 2022 was “hugely successful” for the company, prompting it to open the Rockefeller Center unit for this holiday season.

She said that while the new shop is temporary, it will boast a “full build-out. It will feel like a stand-alone store and will feature our new branding identity that we launched for fall. We want people to come in and experience the brand and be immersed in the environment. The more people can touch and feel the product, the better we do.”

The GSTQ shop will remain through the end of January.

The shop will carry 60 percent womenswear and 40 percent menswear and will include exclusive colorways of the bestselling GSTQ sheer bomber for women. An inclusive range of sizes — extra-small to XXXL — will be stocked in the store and there will be lots of suits and sweaters for men alongside “sequins and satin tuxedo-inspired outfits” for women for the holidays, she said. The shop will also host a series of events during its tenure.

The shop sells both men’s and womenswear.

Looking ahead, Mayne said GSTQ will continue to work to grow its direct-to-consumer business, presence with select wholesale partners such as Nordstrom and test long-term retail concepts in key markets such as Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas and Seattle.

“Next year, we’ll also be looking at another shop in New York, which is our top market, and L.A., which is the second biggest,” she said.

Garcia is a film producer, a professional bodybuilder, co-owner of the XFL football league and her Garcia Cos. business also owns a number of consumer products, including Teremana tequila and Zoa energy drink. Two years ago, she launched GSTQ, an inclusively sized women’s collection, and expanded into menswear this summer. GSTQ, which stands for God Save the Queen, has been a longtime anthem for the entrepreneur.
