The GTA 6 Trailer Has Dropped Early With A Release Window – Watch It Now

Ever the one for surprises, Rockstar Games has blessed us with a GTA 6 trailer earlier than anyone expected. While the GTA 6 trailer was expected to go live on December 5 at 6am PT, it suddenly released over 14 hours earlier after the trailer was leaked in full on social media.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer was released after the trailer was posted on social media by a small account, with Rockstar responding rather quickly and posting it itself. In a dry but somewhat cheeky post on Twitter, the company said “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube.”
The trailer opens with sweeping shots over the Miami-like Vice City, reimagined and revitalized since the last time we saw it in, well, GTA: Vice City. It looks absolutely gorgeous, but it’s not long before we cut away to our new protagonist, Lucia, the first woman to lead a main series GTA game.
There’s a few more sweeping shots of the city, which again, is looking amazing, including the beach packed with people, some good old Florida swamps (with flamingos!) and a gorgeous skyline. There’s even some shots of nightclubs and hardcore raging parties, which is very on brand for not-Miami.
While we don’t see any actual gameplay, if these are in-game cinematics on display (as is often the case with Rockstar’s games) then we’re in for a delightful treat visually. The character models look incredible, the world looks almost photorealistic, and the lighting is absolutely stunning. It’s safe to say this one probably won’t be hitting the Nintendo Switch.
“Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said in a press release, “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
We also got a release window for the game, right at the end of the trailer, and we hope you’re settled in for a long wait. Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released sometime in 2025, meaning you’ll probably be waiting for well over a year to get your mitts on it.
We’d expect GTA 6 to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S in 2025. PC may come down the line, but at this point Rockstar has only confirmed the game for the two consoles.
