From Delish

Here at Delish, we take potato salad pretty seriously. We like to load ours up with all sorts of crazy ingredients like jalape?os and blue cheese. Our two contenders this round of Celebrity Snackdown bring some interesting twists to the classic potluck side. Guy Fieri brings the smoke, while Jamie Oliver utilizes bacon fat in a seriously genius way. Read on to see whose take on potato salad won our hearts.

JAMIE'S RECIPE

The Naked Chef keeps his salad pretty classic, with a few subtle twists. First of all, the dressing is lighter than the usual - half sour cream, half low fat yogurt. Don't let that fool you though, this recipe isn't totally healthy. There's plenty of bacon, but it's the bacon fat that's really the star of the show. Jamie decrees that you crisp up some bread crumbs in the leftover fat, a trick I plan on using again. If there's one thing to take away from this recipe, it's that bacon-fat-fried bread crumbs are LIFE. These get mixed in with some chives for a potato salad that's crunchy, creamy, smooth, and surprisingly light.

GUY'S RECIPE

Jamie Oliver's not the only one to teach us a seriously cool technique. Guy creates the ultimate summer side dish and GRILLS his potatoes. Adding the smoky char of the grill to potato salad? GENIUS. Nothing tastes more like summer than some good 'ol char. Besides that twist, Fieri keeps things surprisingly classic. The potatoes are mixed with celery, red onion, and a sour cream and mayo based dressing. There's some capers and lemon juice to add a little brightness, and tons of black pepper. All in all, a super solid potato salad.

THE VERDICT

Though both salads were worthy contenders, Jamie Oliver's won the gold. It was both light and indulgent, perfectly seasoned, and don't even get us started on those bread crumbs. We wouldn't turn down our noses at either of these potatoes at our next potluck, but we'll be making Jamie's all summer long.
