Gwen Stefani, 51, says she's 'obsessed with how I'm aging'
Gwen Stefani is reflecting on the longevity of her career and aging in the spotlight because of it, crediting her relationship with Blake Shelton for how great she looks and feels at 51 years old.
"It’s really hard for everyone to age and have to face life. Especially for females and people who have been in the spotlight it can be daunting, but you tackle it by just trying to be the most beautiful version of yourself inside and out," the singer and co-host of The Voice told Stellar.
And although it wasn't always easy to stay true to herself, explaining that she was "always a misfit," Stefani said that it actually worked in her favor early in her career as well. "I look back on all the things I’ve done and think, ‘Gosh, how did I stumble upon that?’ [But] I didn’t – I was just being me. The one thing I always knew was that I would always follow my truth and what I liked and who I was."
Even now, many look to the star for styling tips and trends, more recently idolizing her for how she's aged. "People talking about my aging is a compliment, I guess," she said. "I’m kind of obsessed with how I’m aging, too."
After falling in love with Shelton on television and going public with their relationship in 2015, Stefani said even that has contributed to her glow.
"Blake is the greatest guy. I look back over the past few years and look at pictures of when I first started kissing Blake, and I look the best I’ve ever looked in my life in those photos," she said. "Love must look good on me. I feel like that does show through – it really does."
