Gwen Stefani Shares How Ranch Life With Blake Shelton Changed Her

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are madly in love two years into their marriage, but it wasn't love at first sight.

In a video interview with People, Stefani admitted that she "didn't see any of this coming" with her country crooner husband. "This was just a big old 'What?!'" she said.

Besides the surprise of falling in love with Shelton while working together as coaches on The Voice, the "Hollaback Girl" singer confessed that the last thing she expected was to call Oklahoma home. The couple owns a ranch in the state, where Shelton spends most of his free time farming.

"To be able to escape to Oklahoma, a place that I don't think I would ever have gone to [without Shelton]…When I met Blake, it was like, that's when I felt [at] home," she said. "It was like, 'Oh, this is where I'm supposed to be, with this guy.'"

The former No Doubt frontwoman added, "It was just such an amazing gift to be able to experience love like that for the first time. It was just like, 'Ah, this is it.'"

As someone who grew up in Anaheim, California and has remained in the state throughout her career, Stefani was in for a culture shock at first.

"I am not really a dirt person or a bug person, or a hot person—like, I don't like that much humidity, all that," she admitted. "We used to go there and I would be like, 'I don't want to do anything. Like, I'm tired. Why are you…let's just lay here and eat pizza.'" However, Shelton wasn't satisfied with resting, instead taking on many tasks on the farm, including cutting wood.

Now, Stefani helps out Shelton in working on the land. "We get there and we're both…like, we're working. We gotta get those sunflowers planted. We gotta make the zinnias happen," she shared. "We are constantly working and it's a different kind of work."

The Oklahoma ranch also played another important role in their love story, as it's where the couple tied the knot in 2021 on the 4th of July.
