Gwyneth Paltrow-backed members-only club gets the green light in WeHo
The Arts Club is headed to Los Angeles — thanks in part to Gwyneth Paltrow.
The development where the members-only hangout will reside was approved by the West Hollywood City Council on Monday. Along with the private club, the nine-story building will feature office space, restaurants, retail, and an art gallery open to the public. Construction at the location on Sunset Boulevard and Hilldale Avenue — the site of the Hustler Hollywood building — should begin soon.
The Goop CEO is one of the high-profile names who purchased the 132,000-square-foot lot that will house the club. The Arts Club will feature a wellness center — naturally, given that Paltrow’s name is attached — restaurants, a screening room, a nightclub, guest rooms, and a rooftop pool. It is blocks away from the Soho House, which is a similar members-only hideout that A-listers flock to. According to the website, Paltrow is an advisory board member of the Arts Club — although someone might want to let them know it still lists her name as Gwyneth Paltrow Martin. Her BFF Stella McCartney is also an advisory board member.
The Arts Club was founded in 1863. Its London outpost counts Prince Harry and Prince William as members. Practically all major celebrities have been photographed coming out of the hot spot at some point during their trips across the pond.
If you want to be a member, first of all, good luck getting in. If you do happen to get approved after applying, it will cost around $2,500 to join and about $2,500 for an annual subscription. Of course, you pay for all food and drink once you’re there too.
At least you know where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will hang out now if they come back to Los Angeles. Worth every penny — just don’t try to take a photo.
