Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop is selling leather lingerie it's as expensive as you'd expect

Vaginal eggs were just the beginning. Gwyneth Paltrow’s website Goop is now selling leather lingerie and a whip.

The three new items include a $312 beige leather bra, (which is only available in sizes XS through M), a $318 beige set of leather panties (again, only in sizes XS through M), and a $240 black leather whip, a.k.a. a “flogger.” All three of the products are from a company called Fleet Ilya. You won’t find them by searching “lingerie” on Goop.com, but you can find them by searching for the brand’s name.

The product descriptions don’t leave much to the imagination, either. The bra’s description notes that there are “racy demi cups for freeing the nipple,” adding that the undergarment “is what BDSM fantasies are made of.” (Goop also sells a number of other sex toys, all at similarly high price points.)

The Fleet Ilya products are “handmade in England,” but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re not exactly a practical purchase for most people. For reference, a leather flogger from Babeland costs just $40.

Even though the new items are out of many people’s price range, they’re not likely to land the company in legal trouble. Last September, Goop had to pay $145,000 after making false claims about the reported health benefits of vaginal eggs. The Washington Post reported in 2017 that Goop claimed the eggs could help “balance female hormone levels.”

If you are petite, into BDSM, and have a few hundred dollars to spare, the new lingerie set does look like it’s crafted from quality leather. And the company hasn’t made any potentially untrue scientific claims about the lingerie and the flogger, which is a plus. But for the majority of people, the new Goop offerings are likely just another example of overpriced items that no one really needs.
