Hailey Bieber’s new neck tattoo has Swifties in their feelings

Hollywood just gets curiouser and curiouser these days, especially when mysterious celebrity tattoos are involved. The latest ink that has everyone talking? Hailey Bieber and her new neck tattoo. It has an interesting (and maybe coincidental) connection to Taylor Swift’s new album.

Tattoo artist to the stars, Dr. Woo—who has tattooed Bieber before, as well as Miley Cyrus, Drake, Hilary Duff, Cara Delevingne, and many more—shared a close-up of the neck tattoo text to his Instagram on September 3rd. It reads “Lover,” in a script that’s pretty darn similar to the font on Swift’s new album cover of the same name. Was she inspired by the songstress with her super pretty new ink?

The truth is, probably not. Everyone knows by now that Swift and Bieber’s husband, Justin, are not on good terms. If his years-long saga with her BFF Selena Gomez weren’t enough, his relationship with manager Scooter Braun (who just purchased Swift’s old record label for $300 million) definitely puts these two on opposite sides of Hollywood’s celeb landscape. In fact, earlier this year, Swift called Bieber out by posting a screencap of him with Scooter Braun and Kanye West during the apocalyptic summer of 2016.

Plus, “lover” is a common noun, and Bieber is reportedly re-tying the knot with her husband soon, so the pretty tattoo is far more likely in honor of him.

Even so, Swifties are perplexed by the timing and content of Bieber’s newest body art. Comments on the Instagram post say to “stream Lover by Taylor Swift,” and social media lit up with reactions to the post.

Dr. Woo, however, had only one thing to say on the matter: “Love always wins.”

Guess we have no choice but to keep reading tattoos like tea leaves and scouring for hints between the lyrics.
