Your Hairbrush Is Apparently the Key to Getting Perfect Ombré Hair
Is a paddle brush the perfect hack for creating gorgeous ombré hair color? Hair colorist Ozden Kurtur seems to think so. The Istanbul-based colorist has been posting videos of his unique process on Instagram, in which he skips traditional ombré application tools and opts for a regular hairbrush instead, and his results are pretty convincing.
In the videos, which have been regrammed like crazy by beauty bloggers such as Huda Kattan, the colorist saturates the top half of a paddle brush with bleaching product and then carefully brushes through the ends of the hair.
The technique is probably much more technical in reality and best saved for a professional hair colorist, but NYC colorist Dana Ionato told Allure the technique sounds like a pretty good idea.
"Using a brush eliminates the possibility of your hand pressing down too hard on the strands of hair when applying the highlights. A brush will give a faster, more natural-looking ombré instead of a hard and heavily saturated look. I've seen this done in Sweden, and I often apply ombré highlights with a comb for more even distribution."
The result of the process is super-subtle ombré, which might just be the best 2016 update for this never-ending hair color trend.
