  • Halle Berry honored her 56th birthday with a stunning new Instagram selfie.

  • The actress rocked gray-silver curls and a black lace top with a plunging neckline.

  • “Feeling so much gratitude and love on this birthday! WOW!” she captioned the post.

Sunday was Halle Berry’s 56th birthday, and the Bruised star celebrated with an absolutely stunning selfie. “Feeling so much gratitude and love on this birthday! WOW!” she captioned the shot, in which she rocked silver curls and a black lace top with a plunging neckline.

Fans and followers rushed to the comments to wish her a happy birthday and compliment her ethereal glow. “Happy birthday beautiful queen stunning as always,” one person commented. “Happy birthday Queen,” Lenny Kravitz added. “Looking more like 26.??” someone else wrote.

The actress has experimented with different hair colors as of late (and has opened up in the past about the cult-favorite hair mist she loves to help her achieve such luscious-looking locks). In an August 6 post, she sported a purple pixie. And a few days before that, her short curls were platinum blonde. She pulls off every shade effortlessly, and we love that for her 56th birthday, she’s leaning into a gray-silver hue.

In a January interview with AARP, she discussed how her 50s have been transformative so far, and what they’ve taught her. “We’re all going to get older. Our skin is going to shrivel up and we’re going to look different. I see things changing with my face and body, but I’ve never put all my eggs in that basket,” she said. “I’ve always known that beauty is deeper than the physical body you’re walking around in.”

She continued, adding that she’s prepared to invite aging as it comes. “I refuse to become someone who just tries to hold onto a youthful face and not embrace what’s most important about being beautiful—how you live your life, how you give back to others, how you connect to people, how you strengthen your mind, body, and soul and nourish yourself, how you give in a meaningful way of yourself. The most beautiful people have something radiating inside,” she explained.

And that’s certainly the case for the mom of two, who has always radiated joy, strength, and confidence. That’s why people love her. And she doesn’t plan on diluting that energy any time soon—just take her skateboarding in a bikini in March as an example.

“Women are told that when we reach a certain number, we’re no longer valuable,” she told AARP. “I believe the opposite. Society should look at us as jewels as we get older. Because the older women get, the more formidable we are.”

Preach, Berry! And happy (belated) birthday.
