There's a growing trend of studios scrapping movies, not just in pre-production but even when the cameras have stopped rolling and the project is in the can.

The latest film reportedly headed to the scrap heap is Halle Berry's sci-fi Netflix film The Mothership.

It was said to follow the character of Sara Morse, who uncovers an extraterrestrial object under her home a year after her husband's mysterious disappearance.

When its expected 2023 release date passed, people were curious about what would come of Berry's latest flick.

The InSneider has revealed that the film allegedly required "significant reshoots", which would've been costly and impractical due to young cast members having grown up in the 2+ years since production ended.

Delays in completing post-production were also noted as a reason.

Netflix is yet to confirm the rumors.

Other cast members slated to star in the film were Molly Park, John Ortiz, Omari Hardwick, Sydney Lemmon and Paul Guilfoyle.

The Mothership was set to be the directorial debut of Matt Charman, whose previous credits include writing the scripts for Suite Fran?aise, Bridge of Spies and the TV Mini-Series Treason.
