While some of you are just putting out the Halloween decorations, many are already looking forward to the flurry of Christmas movies that will fill our must-watch lists by the end of October. Lifetime, UPtv, Freeform, and even CBS will have holiday movies this season, but Hallmark Media still leads the pack with 40 new original Christmas movie premieres in 2022!
When does Christmas begin on Hallmark Channel?
If you're an avid Hallmark fan, then you know the network has been airing Christmas movies on Fridays throughout 2022.
The network's Countdown to Christmas officially kicked off Oct. 21 on Hallmark Channel with 24/7 holiday content. Miracles of Christmas began the next day on Oct. 22 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
How many new Christmas movies will be on Hallmark this year?
Hallmark will premiere 40 new original movies across the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries with 8 hours of new movie premieres every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Which stars are returning to Hallmark Channel?
While you won't see Candace Cameron Bure or Danica McKellar on Hallmark this season (you'll find them over on Great American Family), there will still be plenty of familiar faces across the Hallmark channels. Look for Lacey Chabert to star in her twelfth Christmas movie for Hallmark Media in Haul Out the Holly. Fan favorites Alison Sweeney, Andrew Walker, Kristoffer Polaha, Brennan Elliott, Tyler Hynes, Nikki DeLoach, Rachel Boston, Ryan Paevey, Kimberley Sustad, Jack Wagner, and Holly Robinson Peete are just a few of the familiar faces fans will see this holiday season.

Who are the new stars joining Hallmark Channel for Countdown to Christmas?
Plenty of fresh new talent will be joining the stable of fan favorite stars. They include Marlo Thomas, Ann-Margret, Ellen Travolta, Greta Scacchi, Tia Carrere, Margaret Colin, Lynn Whitfield, Kara Wang, Moira Kelly, Mykelti Williamson and Stephen Toblowsky.
Will there be any faith-based films on the schedule?
Of course! In fact, The Gift of Peace starring Nikki DeLoach and Brennan Elliott is the first film produced under the DaySpring brand from Hallmark. Similar to the recent launch of African American films under the Mahogany brand, films under the DaySpring brand will focus on themes of faith, family, and religion.
Will there be a Mahogany Christmas movie this season?
Yes! With the success of Unthinkably Good Things and To Her, With Love, Mahogany will premiere The Holiday Stocking on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The film stars Nadine Ellis, Tamala Jones, BJ Britt, Karon Riley and Mykelti Williamson.
How is Hallmark adding diversity and inclusion to its Christmas movie lineup?
This writer is happy to see two films featuring Chinese American families on the holiday schedule this season! A Big Fat Family Christmas and Christmas at the Golden Dragon bring the rich Chinese culture to Christmas.
Hanukkah on Rye is set against the backdrop of The Festival of Lights while Holiday Heritage is the first film on the network celebrating Kwanzaa.
