Hallmark's 'Merry & Bright' Was Filmed in a Gorgeous City Way up North
Hallmark’s 10th annual Countdown to Christmas event is officially underway, and we are officially way too excited. Love, passion, and fateful run-ins with ex-lovers, here we come!
But if there's one movie that's got our interest especially piqued, it's Merry & Bright. The film, which premieres November 2, stars familiar face Jodie Sweetin of Fuller House and heartthrob Andrew Walker—both of whom are regulars on the network.
Beyond its star power, though, Merry & Bright is just downright beautiful. Twinkling Christmas lights fill each frame, each Christmas tree is trimmed to the nines, and the movie's plot revolves around a candy cane company. Talk about Christmas magic!
Naturally, we had to find out how we could visit this winter wonderland in real life. Drumroll, please: Hallmark confirmed with CountryLiving.com that the movie was, in fact, filmed in Winnipeg—the capital of the Canadian province of Manitoba. It makes sense that all that Christmassy goodness would have to be found way up north, no?
According to Global News, the film crew stationed themselves in the city's Exchange District for at least one scene of the movie. Located in Winnipeg's downtown area, the bustling District is most well-known for its skyscrapers, historic financial buildings, and early 20th century warehouses.
But what's most exciting about the area is that it's bordered by Winnipeg's glittering theatre district. If you do happen to take a Hallmark-inspired trip up north, you'll want to stop by the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and Centennial Concert Hall, home to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and the Manitoba Opera.
Until then, we'll settle for exploring Winnipeg via the small-screen—no passport required. Cheers to another season of fabulous movies!
