There are few flavors as quintessentially summer as peaches and cream. When Halo Top announced the fruity flavor as its new seasonal pint, it made sense - but we're surprised at how seldom it's done. Sure, you can get P&C yogurt any time of year, but there aren't very many frozen pints on the shelves (Breyers and H?agen-Dazs have straight peach-flavored ice cream and sorbet). The best news: the new, 320-calorie-per-pint flavor actually tastes like ice cream.

Since Halo Top took grocery stores by storm in 2017 - the year it was named America's bestselling pint - the low-cal, high-protein ice cream, and all the replicas to follow, have been heavily debated. Some people say low-cal ice creams encourage over-eating, others that they taste like chalk. Then, there's the camp that keeps their freezer stocked with healthier pints at all times.

Regardless of where you fall on the ice cream spectrum, Halo Top's new flavor is worth a try solely for its lack of aftertaste: the creamy pint tastes the most like regular ice cream of all the brand's flavors, IMO, with no lingering taste (though it does still contain erythritol). The cream and peach puree base likely contributes to the creamier texture, and swirls of peach pieces give it more chewiness than plain pints. Plus, it actually smells like peaches and cream, in the same way flavored yogurts do.

The limited-edition summer pint will be available in grocery stores nationwide beginning in early June and will stay there through the end of August. It's also coming to Halo Top's two SoCal scoop shops in soft-serve form. You don't have to be on the West Coast to try it, though - from May 31 to June 3, you can order Peaches & Cream soft-serve at New York City's Supermoon Bakehouse, where it's being stuffed into a Cruffin. Yep, that's a croissant-muffin-soft-serve hybrid. Peach pie, meet 2018.
