Walking to the beat of his own drum, the founder and creative director of Han Kj?benhavn continues to stand out with his gritty aesthetics.

This season, he presented only his men’s wear range (the women’s counterpart will be revealed in Copenhagen in August) but this didn’t limit his flamboyant approach.

Introduced via a short movie set in a dystopian world, the spring 2022 collection offered high-drama moments through exaggerated shoulder proportions as well as daring, skin-revealing solutions in sharp tailoring and distressed knits.

A hand-woven technique was a recurrent motif throughout the lineup, elevating blazer jackets, recycled denim pants and even a tracksuit. Pleats and sequins were also smartly used to play with light and combine matte and shiny textures.

As a final touch, Wikkels? Davidsen styled the looks with chunky jewelry and accessories featuring customized ceramic hands developed in collaboration with Brussels-based artist Naomi Gilon.

Will every single piece in the collection have a commercial future? Probably not, but they all successfully expressed Wikkels? Davidsen’s invitation to stay different and true to oneself.
