When it comes to both my skin care and makeup routines, I tend to opt for products that help me feel put together with minimal effort. This holds especially true during the hot summer months when I want my makeup to feel as lightweight and breathable as possible. Because of this preference, I’ve come to rely on tinted moisturizers instead of foundation to give me that blurred, even skin tone I desire.

Recently, I got the chance to try the Umbra Mineral Cream from Drunk Elephant, and it quickly became my new go-to for a no-makeup-makeup look this summer. The brand’s revamped mineral sunscreen comes in three shades, has SPF 30 protection, and strikes the perfect balance between a lightweight, easy-to-blend consistency and impressive coverage that conceals imperfections.

As someone who hates wearing foundation, my top takeaway from the Umbra Tinte Mineral Cream is that it makes me feel put together without additional makeup. The formula has a thick, creamy texture that feels similar to a liquid foundation, but it is much more lightweight and breathable on my skin (read: it doesn’t clog my pores). I also found that it has impressive staying power and doesn’t wear off throughout the day. In addition to matching my skin tone nicely, it gives my skin a blurred, filter-like finish, reduces redness, and protects it from the sun, which is obviously a must.

The skin tint comes in three shades: Umbra Tinte, a golden, medium shade, Umbra Cocoa, a darker, warmer color, and Umbra Sheer, which provides a sheer light pink finish. All three shades are formulated with zinc oxide, astaxanthin for hydration and combating signs of aging, and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, which is “a highly stable form” of vitamin C that delivers an ultra-bright glow, per dermatologist Dr. Adrienne O'Connell, M.D. Plus, they have a PA+++ rating, meaning they offer high UVA protection.

In comparison to other tinted sunscreens I’ve tried, I like how this product offers sun protection without feeling oily or leaving a white cast. Shoppers are also praising the new-and-improved product, with one customer saying that the “beautiful formula” is “not heavy, blends in seamlessly, and leaves the most beautiful tint of color.”
