Headwaters Music and Arts to offer youth pottery wheel camp

Jun. 25—BEMIDJI — Headwaters Music and Arts is set to host a week-long youth pottery wheel camp from July 8-12 at Headwaters, 519 Minnesota Ave. NW.

This seven-session day camp is tailored for teenagers from ages 13 through 18. The camp will be held daily from 1 to 4 p.m. from July 8-12, with additional meet-ups from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on July 18 and July 25. The planned meet-ups will give participants a chance to glaze their fired pottery pieces and collect their final projects.

Pottery instructor Tom Daly will teach participants hands-on wheel throwing, design and sculptural techniques and learn how to glaze, a release said. The camp will conclude with an ice cream social where participants can showcase their finished wheel-thrown vessels.

The cost to attend the camp is $185 per participant, with a $40 non-refundable deposit. Headwaters offers several scholarship and grant options for all of its youth programming in an effort to make its programming accessible for all. All materials and firing are included.
