This Healthy Cookbook Is So Popular, It Sold Nearly As Fast As The 50 Shades Of Grey And Harry Potter Books
If you had to take one guess as to what the U.K.'s fastest-selling book is, I'm fairly confident you could get it. Helpful hint: broomsticks, an enchanted castle, and a wizard named Harry are involved. The Harry Potter books hold five of the top 10 spots (its spinoff, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, holds another) on the list of UK's fastest-selling books since January 1998. Fifty Shades of Grey, unsurprisingly, holds another.
But number 9 on the list isn't one anyone saw coming, including its authors: the Pinch of Nom Cookbook, released on March 21. Written by Kay Featherstone and Kate Allinson, the cookbook includes 100 "slimming, home-style recipes."
The friends have a popular blog of the same name-they have 1.5 million Facebook followers and 473,000 on Instagram-but had no idea the cookbook would sell so well (210,506 copies in its first three days on sale, to be exact). Kay told BBC the success is "absolutely incredible."
The sales pushed out Jamie Oliver in the cookbook category; his 2005 book Jamie's Italy previously held the record, selling 165,000 copies in 2006, BBC reports.
You can find the cookbook on Amazon now, or follow Kay and Kate's blog and social media channels to see more of their healthy-living recipes. The two are on a journey to lose weight themselves and told BBC they cook for normal people. "We are in that struggle and we understand how hard it can be."
