'Heartbroken' man is giving away the engagement ring he never got to use
The Bachelor‘s Arie Luyendyk Jr. isn’t the only fellow whose engagement plans have gone awry.
As WAFF reports, a Virginia man named Steven Crocker has announced that he will give away an engagement ring valued at $1,700 because he doesn’t want to see it “go to waste.”
Crocker revealed few details about his romantic situation in the post, but he noted that he “never got to use” the half-carat, 14-karat white gold ring from Kay Jewelers. The “heartbroken” man also asked posters to not make negative comments about his ex.
“She is a phenomenal person and doesn’t deserve anything bad to be said about her,” he wrote. “Life happens. It’s okay. This gesture is bigger than her or me.”
He explained that he is giving away the ring free because he’d rather it be used for something special than be sold for a “very depreciated value.” Specifically, he’s looking for a love story from a person in need.
“It’s not about the money for me, it’s about love, and I’d hate to see a good ring go to waste,” Crocker wrote.
“However, I don’t want to give it away to just anyone. I want to give it to a guy or girl who is so in love with their significant other and wants to take the next step but cannot afford a ring. I don’t think that anyone on MY friends list falls in that category, but someone out there does, which is why sharing this post is very much appreciated. I’ll send it anywhere in the U.S. where someone is head over heels.”
He invited interested parties to send him videos sharing their romantic stories. So far his post has been shared by more than 200 people, many of whom posted comments praising his “terrific attitude” and “selfless” act.
“It’s not the fanciest ring in the world, but it can potentially make someone very happy for the rest of their life,” Crocker added.
