Helen Mirren wore this $13 berry blush on the Golden Globes red carpet — and she absolutely glowed
The 81st Golden Globes kicked off awards season on Sunday, Jan. 7. It was super-celebratory, after the industry strike that dominated 2023. The red carpet truly delivered, with bold gowns — fiery hues, serious sequins, and plenty of pink (a nod to our queen, Barbie). From a beauty perspective, soft-glam seemed to be the name of the game.
We can't stop thinking about one look in particular. Helen Mirren, nominated for her role in the critically acclaimed western series "1923," walked the carpet in a gorgeous purple confection from Dolce & Gabbana with a berry-hued makeup look to match.
Makeup artist Jo Strettell used L'Oreal Paris products to achieve Dame Mirren's dewy look above. For the pinkish glow, Strettell chose L'Oreal Paris Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear Soft Matte Blush in the shade Legendary Berry. While this deep shade may look intimidating in the package, it can be used subtley. Start with a light hand, and gradually increase intensity — it's buildable. While Legendary Berry is clearly perfect for the red carpet, it's also ideal for real life (say, a long day at the office or running errands). Because it's water-, heat- and sweat-resistant, it stays on no matter what your schedule demands.
This long-wear blush offers up to 24 hours of color — soft or bold, the intensity is up to you.
For Mirren's lip look, Stettell used L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Satin Lipstick in shade 210, creating an all-over wash of color. This lipstick comes in more than 15 shades; this rich raspberry is so fun for winter. Stettell also lined Mirren's lips in L’Oréal Paris' Colour Riche Lip Liner, in Lasting Plum.
This lipstick is formulated with precious oils and rich pigments to give you a bold color payoff and a creamy finish.
Plum lip liner perfect for your winter palette — this formulation promises not to feather or bleed.
The overall look, while professionally crafted for an A-lister on one of the biggest nights of the year, is super doable, super wearable — and yours for a song. All in, Dame Mirren's blush, lipstick and liner will cost you less than $25 on Amazon. It's never been easier to get ready for your close up.
