How to Help Those Affected by Hurricane Laura

Hurricane Laura made landfall on the Louisiana-Texas border early Thursday as a Category 4 storm, bringing high waters and extreme winds of 150 mph. Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the storm sent thousands of people into shelters and left hundreds of thousands without power. At least six people are confirmed dead. Particularly hard-hit was the city of Lake Charles, Louisiana, although officials have said that, thankfully, the storm surge was not as extreme as they had initially predicted. FEMA has dispatched relief efforts to the area.
