Impractical Jokers star Q has revealed how the group come up with the punishments they inflict on each other every episode.

Q–real name Brian Quinn–and James 'Murr' Murray, Joe Gatto, and Sal Vulcano must endure a punishment if they get the fewest points for their hidden camera pranks.

They've so far put each other through tattoos, piercings, becoming a human pi?ata, sky-diving and getting married for real-all in the name of comedy.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about how they come up with the forfeits, Q said: "It's fun! It's just a lot of fun, so we'll get together with our comedy producers and we'll sit in a room for like three weeks and just come up with ideas.

"We try to find inspiration in whatever we're doing day to day, if I'm shopping in the mall or something.

"Plus, you know, we repeat certain bits and we do call-backs and stuff like that. Really, I think the well of busting your friends' chops should never dry up so I think we'll be okay one way or another."

Often playing on each other's deepest fears, Q went on to discuss whether there was a line they wouldn't cross.

"The punishments, we can get a little bit meaner with those but they're still my friends! I don't want to do anything that would hurt them.

"As for the challenges, the point is to get you to break and not do something, so we'll come up with stuff that we know we're not gonna do. But the show's not mean. We make fun of ourselves. We're not making fun of the people we're interacting with.

"It's pretty easy. It just comes down to, how do friends act with their friends?"

Adding what he thought his worst punishment has been so far, Q added: "I used to say teaching my parents Sex Ed was bad.

"Then, they did a bit where they did a play about my life, and how I used to be a fireman with the FDNY, and now I just tell fart jokes on TV, and how I'm useless now. They brought my entire firehouse in to be in the audience. That was pretty special, that day.

"That was horrible because all my friends were making fun of me and I was reminded that I was useless.

"But now, I think it's when they put tarantulas on me was the worst."
