Before taking the stage at Sunday's 95th annual Academy Awards to perform her original song, "Lift Me Up," from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, first-time Oscar nominee Rihanna served us plenty of beauty inspiration with her makeup.
To create an effortless yet glamorous look, Fenty Beauty global makeup artist Priscilla Ono crafted the perfect base for the star using her brand's Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 320, and Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer in 300. Ono then reached for the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in the peachy pink shade, Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak, to add dimension to the apples of Rihanna's cheeks. And to define the eyes, Ono painted on a bold wing along her upper lid using Flyliner Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Cuz I’m Black.
“We wanted to create a monochromatic makeup look with a maple red lip and highlight, punctuated by strong black eyeliner, to echo the structure of Rihanna’s gown,” Ono says in a statement. In a new iteration of the red lipstick trend Rihanna helped launch after her 2023 Super Bowl performance, the star wore a slightly browner version of Fenty Beauty's Icon Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick in the shade Grill Mast’r. And to lock in her finished look, Rihanna's face makeup was topped with plenty of Invisimatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder.
While the soon-to-be mother of two may not have taken home an Oscar during Sunday night’s ceremony, she certainly was a prime example of what awards season elegance is all about (and served another covetable maternity look).
