Inter Miami CF finished their season on Nov. 10, but Lionel Messi isn't wasting any time preparing for next season. The soccer star joined the team after helping bring Argentina to victory in the World Cup last year and is set to play with the squad through 2025 to the tune of $50 million every year. The 2024 MLS season isn't set to kick off until early next year, but Messi remains hard at work even when he's technically not being paid for it.

ESPN shared a video of Messi's training on Instagram. The clip, first posted by his wife Antonela Roccuzzo, shows the 36-year-old footballer in the gym doing weighted pull-ups while Bad Bunny plays over the speakers.

Bringing Messi to Miami was an exciting move not just for Messi, but for Inter Miami co-owner and fellow soccer star David Beckham as well.

“Ten years ago, when I started my journey to build a new team in Miami, I said that I dreamt of bringing the greatest players in the world to this amazing city," Beckham said in a statement at the time. "I couldn’t be prouder that a player of Leo’s caliber is joining our club, but I am also delighted to welcome a good friend, an amazing person and his beautiful family to join our Inter Miami community."

Messi, for his part, was just as thrilled with this new chapter in his life.

"I'm very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States," he said. "This is a fantastic opportunity and together we will continue to build this beautiful project."

Construction on Miami Freedom Park—the team's new state-of-the-art stadium—began earlier this year and is projected to open in 2025. Who else to welcome the team to its new home than one of the most decorated players today?
