Emily in Paris is about to grace our Netflix screens once again with the release of its second season—so it only feels appropriate that we examine *just* how much it would cost to live like Lily Collin's character in the city of love. Thanks to a group of property specialists and a study by Bramleys, House Beautiful is here to break down the living expenses of everyone's favorite fashionista...

Living like Emily for an entire year would set you back approximately $151,639, according to this study. Details include:

  • Apartment Rent: $23,114

  • Electric/Gas: $1,017

  • Travel: $827

  • Breakfast: $1,033

  • Lunch: $6,203

  • Dinner: $12,407

  • Health Insurance: $543

  • Clothing: $106,508

The study also estimates that Emily earns around €60,000 a year (which translates to about $67,991). But she seems to be living a bit beyond her means: Emily lives in the fifth arrondissement of Paris, in a square called Place de l’Estrapade. And even though her pad is quite small, its close proximity to the Panthéon makes it more costly. The study predicts that the apartment would cost around €1,700 (or $1,926) per month, or €20,400 (or $23,118) per year.

Bramleys also spoke to Lee McLaughlan, a PR consultant who recently moved from the UK to France, about what to expect when making the move to Paris.

“The move was pretty straightforward as we already owned a property," says McLaughlan. "There was no complicated paperwork involved at the time of our move as the UK was still in the EU. It was a case of just sorting the removal van, sorting the pet passports for our two cats to come with us and just go!"

He adds that "the paperwork is more to do with working here, registering for the health system, and having everything in place to live here. When buying a house in France, the key part is to see it and see the village/town and the area to ensure it is where you want to live."

If you're looking to live like Emily—even if just for a night—might we suggest staying in the countryside chateau we saw in season one?
