From Country Living

We're still recovering from Shalita Grant's NCIS: New Orleans exit, and we know we're not alone.

Shalita played Sonja Percy on the hit CBS series from 2015-2018. She started out as a recurring character, but became a regular in season two. We can see why she would have gotten promoted so quickly—her no-nonsense attitude and chemistry with LaSalle (Lucas Black) made up many of the best moments on the show.

So why did Shalita decide to leave? And what is she up to now? Here's what we know.

Why did Shalita Grant leave NCIS: New Orleans?

There's sometimes drama when a cast member decides to leave a show, but according to Shalita's manager, Didi Rea, there was no bad blood between her and NCIS: NOLA.

"It's just time for a change," Didi told Variety. "This is about moving on to the next great thing."

Deadline also reported that the exit was "mutually agreed upon." Okay, but by who, because we still miss her!

What happened to Sonja Percy?

Percy's exit was a tear-jerker, but it definitely left the door open for future cameos. Percy initially declined a job offer at the FBI out of fear she was letting her team down, according to TVLine. But after a near-death experience and a seriously stressful car flip, she decided it was time to leave the unit behind.

Scott Bakula’s character, Dwayne Pride, and the rest of her crew were supportive, but the goodbye between Percy and LaSalle was particularly brutal. Hopefully she pulls a Ziva someday so we can get some closure on their romance.

What is Shalita up to now?

Shalita wasted no time scooping up other television roles. She played Agent Tess Rogers on Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet, and was reportedly working on a TBS comedy called Search Party, according to CinemaBlend.

Though it’s not the same without her, we're still looking forward to NCIS: NOLA's return this fall.
