Here's Why You Won't See Kendrick Lamar and SZA Perform 'All the Stars' at the Oscars
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the 91st Academy Awards just got a little less exciting. Although all five nominees for Best Original Song were supposed to perform during the ceremony, Kendrick Lamar and SZA will not be blessing us with a live version of "All the Stars" from the Black Panther soundtrack.
According to Variety, the pair will be MIA from the Oscars due to "logistics and timing," and the song will not be performed by any other musicians.
The rest of the nominees for the category include:
“Shallow” from A Star Is Born by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, Andrew Wyatt and Benjamin Rice
“I’ll Fight” from RBG by Diane Warren and Jennifer Hudson
“The Place Where Lost Things Go” from Mary Poppins Returns by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman
“When A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings” from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by David Rawlings and Gillian Welch
Kendrick and SZA may not be available for a performance, but experts believe that they have a solid chance at winning the award. Those who have shared their Oscar predictions have generally picked "Shallow" or "All the Stars" as winners.
